CORBIN FIRST ASSEMBLY

  Welcome!

We believe Church should be a place of family and friends, not uptight religion. We gather each week to worship the Lord and study His word so that we may truly be His disciples. We are committed to reaching our community, teaching them about Christ and then sending them out to finish His work. So take your time, look around and make yourself at Home.

I Believe in Jesus Christ

Propelled by the Spirit

Read Luke 4:16–24

Jesus, still propelled by the power of the Spirit, made His way home teaching in the synagogues along the way. The Scripture doesn’t tell us what He preached, only that the people praised Him. However, that response changed when Jesus reached Nazareth.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (Luke 4:18,19).

The people of Nazareth spoke well of Jesus but questioned His heritage and resisted His declaration of divinity. Jesus was just a hometown boy—Joseph’s son.

What call has God placed on your life? Your commitment to minister may raise the same dubious reaction that Jesus’ declaration got. However, as He leads you in the power of the Holy Spirit, opportunities will arise for you to be used to liberate sinners from their sin and the oppressed from their bondage.

Challenge for Today: Demonstrate your sincerity by expressing your call and outlining a plan to fulfill it.
